For this trip, you need to
- Be able to swim
- Be in good shape
- Know the basic of kayaking (turn, go straight, stop)
- Get 14 y.o
What to prepare
- A bathing suite
- Closed sports shoes.
- Short, tee-shirt for the bike
- Picnic and water (1,5l/pers)
The Bikerafting tour
8h00 - Welcome and explanation of the day
Meeting at 8:00 am at the parking lot of the municipal swimming pool of Castellane. You meet your guide who will explain the day’s progress. Once the adventure of the day has been explained, we all get in the Secret River minibus and head towards Saint André les Alpes to pick up our mountain bikes and start the adventure!
9 am - 10.30 am: Mountain Bike
Once the mountain bikes are recovered, we start to drive towards Lake Castillon. We take the maximum of small paths to get to the boarding. The next step is to inflate the packrafts we have with us and disassemble the bikes that will then be fixed on the packrafts!
10h30 - 12h30: Sailing on the lake in packraft
We sail on the lake at our own pace thanks to our packrafts. We explore its nooks and crannies to discover places otherwise inaccessible. After about 2 hours of kayaking, we arrive at the cove. This is where we finish our sailing part. We take advantage of this heavenly place to relax, swim and picnic.
13h30 - 14h30: The strongest moment of the day is coming!
We have to climb the mountain bikes from the lake to the village of Blaron by pushing them because the path is too steep. There is a big slope to climb over 20 minutes where we will have to help each other to pass all the bikes! After this steep climb, we will reach the village of Blaron for a great view!
15.00 - 16.30: mountain biking back to Castellane
Here we go again with our bikes to reach the village of Castellane. You take a small road with many views of the lake.
Arrival in Castellane around 4.30pm. We take the mountain bikes back to the rental company.
End of the expedition!
